Concrete patios crack over time — it’s about as common a problem as they come in Florida. This Nocatee patio painting job was a straightforward paint-and-seal project that took a tired, cracked patio and made it look intentional again.

Before & After

What the Client Wanted

The client’s patio had cracks starting to form in the concrete — normal wear over time — and they wanted it painted to cover that up and freshen the space.

What Nocatee Patio Painting Involves

We picked up a concrete stain, paint, and sealer made for exterior patios, and got the whole surface coated and sealed. Before any paint went down, we filled the larger cracks with a flexible concrete patch so they wouldn’t just telegraph straight through the new coating within a season.

Tips & Tricks

Pressure wash and clean the concrete thoroughly first — adhesion is everything with concrete paint, and skipping this step is the most common reason a coating fails early. When you apply it, roll the first coat one direction and the second coat perpendicular to it. That blends the roller lines out and gives you a much more even finish than rolling every coat the same way. In Nocatee’s climate, a UV-resistant, breathable concrete coating matters too; standard paint can trap moisture underneath and start peeling within a year or two of Florida sun and rain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will patio paint actually hide cracks in the concrete?

Fine hairline cracks blend in well once patched and coated, but larger structural cracks should be filled with a flexible patching compound first, or they will eventually show through the new finish.

How long does a painted patio finish last?

A properly prepped and sealed patio coating typically lasts several years in Florida’s climate, though high-traffic areas and direct afternoon sun can shorten that if the surface isn’t resealed periodically.
